Oscar + Martin - Do The Right Thing (mp3)

Another month, another fine unlikely pop volley sent forth from the Two Bright Lakes camp. Taking over from Collarbones' Don Juan last month is Oscar + Martin (a duo previously behind the somewhat murkier, experimental outfit Psuche), who deliver an incredibly smooth pop tune in 'Do The Right Thing'. Whereas their aforementioned label-mates address similar R'n'B territory by reassembling those influences in the context of a weird, glitchy but somehow particularly accessible collage, this track is a touch more direct. It reminds me of any number of infectious singles released by clean cut, mother-friendly British singers coming out of some sort of post-5IVE bubble. Don't take that as a sticking point however, it's a pretty gnarly tune.
